Ingredients to make Simple Sage Bread Pudding

2 tbsp (30 mL) vegetable oil
1 onion, peeled and chopped
1 stalk celery, finely chopped
1/2 tsp (2 mL) each salt and pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
1-1/2 tsp (7 mL) crumbled sage leaf or 1 tbsp (15 mL) chopped fresh sage
2 cups (500 mL) sliced mushrooms
4 cups (1 L) cubed day-old bread
3 eggs, beaten
1-1/2 cups (375 mL) vegetable or chicken broth
2 green onions, thinly sliced

Directions to make Simple Sage Bread Pudding

Step 1:

Heat half the oil in a skillet set over medium-low heat. Add onion, celery, salt, pepper, garlic and sage and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes. Increase heat to medium-high. Add remaining oil and add mushrooms. Cook, tossing, for 3 to 4 minutes or until browned.

Step 2:

Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Lighly oil a 10-in (25-cm) pie plate or shallow casserole dish. Spread bread cubes evenly in dish. Sprinkle with onion mixture. Whisk eggs into broth. Pour evenly over bread mixture. Sprinkle green onions. (Can be prepared to this point, covered, and refrigerated overnight. Bring to room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking.)

Step 3:

Bake in centre of preheated oven for about 40 minutes or until set and golden. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Makes 8 to 10 servings.

2 tb Powdered milk
1 ts Salt
1 tb Honey
1/4 c Flax or sesame seeds
3/4 c Sourdough starter
1/2 c Water

DIRECTIONS FOR 1.5 LB LOAF:
2 1/4 ts Active dry yeast
2 1/4 c Bread flour
1/4 c (plus 2 tb) Aramanth flour*
1/4 c (plus 2 tb)Whole wheat flour
1/4 c (plus 2 tb) Soy flour
1/4 c (plus 2 tb) Rolled oats
3 tb Powdered milk
1 1/2 ts Salt
1 1/2 tb Vegetable oil
1 1/2 tb Honey
1/3 c Flax or sesame seeds
1 c (plus 2 tb)Sourdough starter
3/4 c Water

Step 1:Add all ingredients in the order suggested by your bread machine manual and process on the basic bread cycle according to the manufacturer\’s directions. Let the loaf cool completely before slicing.

1/4 c Sharp chedder cheese
2 tb Mild green chili, chopped

Directions to make Chili Cheese Bread

Step 1:Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Coat an 8inch square baking pan with now stick cooking spray and dust with 2 tablespoon of cornmeal. Sift into a large bowl the remaining cornmeal, baking powder, baking soda, salt and flour.
Step 2:In another bowl combine buttermilk, eggs, cheese and chili or chile, then stir into the dry ingredients. Pour batter into the prepared baking pan and place in upper third of oven.
Step 3:Bake 10 minutes or until dough is firm in center.

Directions to make Old Fashioned Turkey Stuffing

Step 1:In a large mixing bowl, combine crumbs, corn bread, crumbled biscuits, onion, celery, parsley, sage, salt and pepper. Toss well. Add broth, butter and eggs. Mix well, but lightly. (You may add extra broth) Mixture should be extra moist.
Step 2:Loosely stuff neck and body cavities of turkey, or for ease in preparation and serving, cook separately in a well-greased baking dish or casserole during the last 45 minutes of turkey roasting time.
Step 3:Before serving, blend stuffing from turkey with that baked separately.

2 tb Margarine, softened
1/2 c Slivered almonds

Directions to make Apple Pizza Dessert

Step 1:Place bread dough on greased 12 inch deep dish pizza pan. When thawed completely, pat dough on bottom and 1/2 inch up sides of pan. Let rest 15 minutes.
Step 2:Combine cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth. Spread over bottom of crust. Combine apples, 2/3 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour and cinnamon. Arrange evenly over cream cheese mixture.
Step 3:In a small mixing bowl, combine 1/3 cup flour and brown sugar. Cut in margarine until mixture is crumbly. Add almonds. Sprinkle evenly over apples. Bake at 350F for about 40 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm or cold, with whipping cream, whipped topping or ice cream.
