Simple Sage Bread Pudding - This bountiful, baked bread pudding recipe has the fragrant, flavorful addition of sage. It is also a vegetarian dinner which is exactly what you need for brunches or buffets as they are usually few and far between. This simple yet sensational bread pudding recipe is great for the Holidays.

Ingredients to make Simple Sage Bread Pudding
2 tbsp (30 mL) vegetable oil
1 onion, peeled and chopped
1 stalk celery, finely chopped
1/2 tsp (2 mL) each salt and pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
1-1/2 tsp (7 mL) crumbled sage leaf or 1 tbsp (15 mL) chopped fresh sage
2 cups (500 mL) sliced mushrooms
4 cups (1 L) cubed day-old bread
3 eggs, beaten
1-1/2 cups (375 mL) vegetable or chicken broth
2 green onions, thinly sliced
Directions to make Simple Sage Bread Pudding
Heat half the oil in a skillet set over medium-low heat. Add onion, celery, salt, pepper, garlic and sage and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes. Increase heat to medium-high. Add remaining oil and add mushrooms. Cook, tossing, for 3 to 4 minutes or until browned.
Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Lighly oil a 10-in (25-cm) pie plate or shallow casserole dish. Spread bread cubes evenly in dish. Sprinkle with onion mixture. Whisk eggs into broth. Pour evenly over bread mixture. Sprinkle green onions. (Can be prepared to this point, covered, and refrigerated overnight. Bring to room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking.)
Bake in centre of preheated oven for about 40 minutes or until set and golden. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Makes 8 to 10 servings.

This homemade, favorite monkey bread recipe, is actually a 3 in one recipe, the bread, the coating, and the icing. Oven baked, in Less Than 30 Minutes, it is a kid favorite, as well as an adult favorite. Guaranteed to be loved by monkey bread fans everywhere, thiis sweet bread recipe is soon to be a favorite!
Ingredients To Make Favorite Monkey Bread Recipe:
FOR THE BREAD
2 tablespoons solid vegetable shortening, plus more for pan and bowl
1/4 cup warm (110 degrees to 115 degrees) water
1/4 cup granulated sugar, plus a pinch for yeast
1 envelope dry active yeast (scant tablespoon)
3/4 cup warm (110 degrees to 115 degrees) milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
FOR THE COATING
8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup firmly packed light-brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
FOR THE ICING
1/4 cup milk
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
Directions To Make Favorite Monkey Bread Recipe:
1.Lightly coat a 10-inch Bundt pan and a medium bowl with shortening; set aside. Put the warm water and a pinch of sugar in a small bowl; sprinkle yeast over top. Stir; let the yeast soften and dissolve, about 5 minutes.
2.Place shortening, milk, sugar, salt, and egg in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the dough hook.
3.Add yeast mixture to shortening mixture, and beat to combine. Slowly add flour. Knead on medium-low, 1 minute. Transfer dough to the prepared bowl. Cover with plastic wrap, and let stand in a warm place, 20 minutes.
4.Make coating: Place melted butter in a bowl. In a second bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts; sprinkle 2 tablespoons nut mixture into prepared Bundt pan.
5.Cut dough into 1/2-inch pieces. Roll into balls. Coat in butter, then roll in nut mixture, and place in prepared pan. Cover with plastic wrap, and let stand in a warm place until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
6.Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake, 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool in pan for 15 minutes. Invert onto a serving plate, and let cool 20 minutes more.
7.Make icing: In a small bowl, combine milk and confectioners’ sugar. Stir until smooth. Drizzle over bread.
